Band Trip 2018
The marching band takes trips every 2 years.  In 2018 we went to Tennessee to a bunch of different places.  One of the places we went was Ripley's Aquarium; this was one of the photos I took on that trip.  It was a jellyfish that I saw and thought would make a good painting.  I decided to make it a mixed media to try and make it more interesting and try something new.  I used the paper to make the top of the jellyfish and then I painted the tail.  The paper also helps make the colors pop.  I used different shades of blue in the background to make it dark to light and more interesting.  Though it didn't turn out as good as I hoped, I'm proud of it.

Senior Year This painting is of my trumpet and marching band senior cord.  Every senior in band got a cord to separate them from the rest of the group.  This painting will remind me of the great times I had in all my years of marching band.  The trumpet is at a diagonal  because straight lines are not as intriguing.  Even though the cord is very similar to the hues of the trumpet you can see that it has different shades to make the difference stand out.  They are laying on top of a band uniform to give it a contrast of colors.  There are all sorts of value in the trumpet to help pull the eye around the painting.

Emberly This is a portrait of my niece, Emberly.  Her and her sister mean the world to me; since I have already done a painting of her sister I wanted to do Emberly.  The light brown in the background brings some of the light around and shows where the light is coming from.  The green in the background complements the reddish pink of her shirt.

Kyra's paper towel of happy accidents To save my teacher from buying more paper towels I would get one in the beginning of the semester and use it for all of my paintings.  I would fold it in half and use it to wipe my brushes off.  I would do one painting on one side then on another painting use a different side.  This particular side was used to clean my brushes when I painted Emberly.  I had no intention of it becoming a beautiful non objective piece, I was just wiping my brushes off.
